Top Five Animated Films

5. WALL-E

WALL-E is my number five pick for the best animated films. Not only is it visually captivating but it is a classic robot-love story that will have you rooting for the couple with all you got. Set 700 years into the future, sweet and curious WALL-E is the last of the solar-powered robots left to clean up the mess humans left on Earth. One day a futuristic robot named Eve comes to Earth and WALL-E falls in love with her. After mistakenly shuts Eva off, WALL-E follows her into space where the humans have been living the past 700 years at an attempt to save the one he loves.
WALL-E's bravery and childlike qualities makes him an incredibly like-able character. From the beginning you will be on his side, wanting him to be to find Eva and rid his loneliness. Eva is completely opposite, very adult and professional and together they make the greatest couple. WALL-E will forever go down as the classic robot- love story.

4. The Incredibles

The Incredibles is yet another Disney Pixar success. Full of action, humor and suspense, The Incredibles is about a seemingly ordinary family living in suburbia, yet they have each have extraordinary superpowers but are sworn into secrecy by the government. Mr. Incredible and his wife Elasta-Girl were once the city's beloved superheroes saving the day, everyday along with many other superhero colleagues. After to many civilians began blaming them for the disorder in the city, they were forced to retire their capes and live as regular people. Fifteen years pass and the now hopeless Mr. Incredible is given the opportunity to relive his glory days which takes him and his family on a wild ride.
The characters are real. They have marital issues, are often confused about who they are, and constantly question their purpose in life. They are also absolutely hilarious, crazy, spontaneous and ambitious. I don't know how many times I have watched this movie and I laugh just as hard every time without fail. The Incredibles is definitely one of the greatest animated movies I have ever seen.

3. The Lion King

The Lion King will forever be known as a classic. Aside from Disney's usually delightful films (i.e The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast etc.) The Lion King is a rather solemn storyline. Betrayal, guilt and grief are prominent throughout this movie and facing Simba's past is his greatest fear and ultimate journey.
After believing that the death of his father is on his hands, Simba runs away from home and never looks back. After running into an old friend, his past brought back to him unexpectedly and is left conflicted about going back home fulfilling his responsibilities as king or continuing to forget about it all. Full of moral teachings and personal feelings strangely portrayed through animals and not humans (which i believe makes it somehow more effective) The Lion King is a movie that will forever be remembered.

2. Up

Up is a film about a man who had dreamed of visiting the wilds of South America with the love of his life since childhood. Sadly, his wife passed before she was able to fulfill that dream of hers. Now 78-years-old Mr. Fredrickson finally the decides to take matters into his own hands and flies his house to South America with thousands of balloons. He unexpectedly brings a curious, clumsy, eight year old chatterbox with him on his voyage.
What makes this movie so great is its undoubtedly real characters. They have flaws and passions and are goofy, crazy and adorable. However, the plot of the story is 100% unreal. Taking a journey across continents in a house floating with balloons to visit and imagined location in South America where you'll find talking dogs and exotic, made-up birds is as surmised as you can get. With the relatability of the characters and the fantasy of the plot made for a great combination that is pleasing to everybody.

1. Spirited Away

Spirited Away is, I believe the greatest animated film to date. In this enchanting Japanese film, a 10-year-old girl named Chihiro who is on the way to her new home with her parents takes a wrong turn and ends up at strange tunnel which leads them to what looked like an abandoned amusement park. By nightfall Chihiro finds herself wandering alone in what now appears to be the Spirit World. Throughout this film, you are taken on the a humorous, riveting, and at times unpleasant journey with Chihiro on the desperate attempt to find her parents and get back to the Human World before it is too late.
No more than an ordinary girl who is impatient, headstrong, impulsive and ambitious, Chihiro encounters spirits and situations that test her bravery and dedication. This wonderfully crafted film that teaches you the beauty of love, courage and ambition and the consequences of greed and power. I guarantee that you will watch this movie again.
