Masters of Make-Believe

When most of us look back on our childhood we are remember the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy, and of course the most famous of all, Santa Claus. As we grew up we learned that it was all fantasy and not reality. Sooner or later kids find out that it was all a lie that their parents conjured up to make them believe in something. And whether or not a child feels betrayed or indifferent, I feel that our parents made right decision in telling us all these lies.

Although some people would argue that lying to children about Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny is a waste of time and somewhat unethical, I believe that these magical beings are essential in one's childhood. Santa Claus brings joy and hope to children. They have something to look forward to and happy memories took keep due to these made-up creatures. According to Tia Gosh of LiveScience.com, Santa can create family traditions. Every family has traditions and Santa helps build cultures and also keep them alive.

The Tooth Fairy, the Easter Bunny and so on encourages the imagination of our young minds. We see things differently when there is magic added to the world. There is a light and a sense of innocence that comes with magic fairies and elves and it brightens our childhood. They also teach children good values such as responsibility and kindness by always encouraging and rewarding well-behaved children. The spirit of Christmas wouldn't be the same without Santa and his reindeer. Even as we grow old and know the truth behind it all we still find joy in these creatures.
